What we look for when you sit in our chair
A comprehensive exam is more than a quick peek. We check every tooth, your gums, your bite, your jaw joint, your soft tissue and your existing dental work — then we look at low-dose digital x-rays to see what we can't see with the naked eye.
Most issues are easier (and cheaper) to fix early. That's the whole point of regular exams — find things while they're small.

Common questions
How often do I really need x-rays?+
Most healthy adults: bitewings every 1–2 years and a panoramic every 3–5 years. Higher-risk patients more often. We never take x-rays we don't need.
Is the radiation safe?+
Digital x-rays use about 90% less radiation than older film systems. One full set is roughly equivalent to a day of natural background radiation, and lead aprons are standard.
What if I'm overdue for an exam?+
Then come in. No judgment. Many of our new patients haven't seen a dentist in years — we start where you are and work forward.
