What is the Canada Dental Care Plan?
The Canada Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal government program that helps cover the cost of dental care for Canadian residents who don't have access to private dental insurance and whose adjusted family net income is below $90,000.
Eligible patients receive a CDCP member card from Sun Life. As a participating provider, Capilano Mall Dental bills the plan directly — so most patients pay either nothing or a small co-pay, depending on income tier.
What's covered
The CDCP covers a wide range of common dental services
* Specific procedures, frequency limits and co-payment levels are set by the federal government. We'll confirm coverage for your exact treatment plan before any work begins.
Are you eligible?
You're likely eligible for the CDCP if all of the following apply:
- You're a Canadian resident for tax purposes
- Your adjusted family net income is under $90,000
- You don't have access to private dental insurance
- You've filed your tax return for the previous year
How to apply
Apply online at canada.ca/dental or by calling Service Canada at 1-833-537-4342. Once approved, Sun Life will mail you a member card with your coverage start date — that's all you need to bring to your appointment.

We submit claims directly to Sun Life on your behalf.
